Adding a hit counter to your sidebar
Adding a counter is a bit fiddly, but will allow you to get some statistics of your visitors. You can also check the number of pages viewed, the time spent and where they visited you from (was it a google search?)

- Go to Sitemeter and register for a free counter
- you’ll need a screen name to add to your login
- they will send you an email to confirm all the details, but it is sometimes useful to keep a copy
- follow the instructions - these are from the site
- Login to your account on edublogs
- make sure you are in the edit bit
- Select “My Dashboard“.
- Select “Blogroll”.
- Select “Add Link”.
- Copy this text to the clipboard. - this is an example, you will have your own
- http://s26sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s26hamster
- (you can use the keys - Select the text and press the CTRL key and the letter C at the same time.)
- Paste it into the Address field for the link.
(Click in the field and then press the CTRL key and the letter V at the same time.) - Enter “Site Meter” for the Name.
- Copy this text - this is an example, you will have your own
- http://s26sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s26hamster(Select the text and press the CTRL key and the letter C at the same time.)
- Paste it into the Image Address field for the link. It is located in the “Advanced” section.
- (Click in the field and then press the CTRL key and the letter V at the same time.)
- Select a Category for the link from your list -
- if you want this to be at the top of your blogroll make a category starting with A
- eg A site counter or A visitor log - or you meter will end up in the middle - see mine
- Select the “Add Link” button.
- Select “View Site”.
- Site Meter should be visible on your blog’s pages within a few minutes. If it didn’t show up, make sure the category you selected has the “Show Images” option checked.
