Edublogs uses DivShare as a free area to upload your files. There is unlimited storage so you can add video, photos, podcasts and anything else you desire.
The new DivShare Uploader Plugin for Wordpress allows you to
- upload files directly from your “Write a Post” page to your DivShare account, and
- insert them into your post with a single click.
- No HTML, no copying or pasting,
- no need to even launch a new window.
- Posting images, MP3s and all types of files to your blog has never been easier.
In order to get this working you need to follow a few simple steps
- go to the plug-ins menu and click on it
- then click on the DivShare bit and activate it
- click on the link to configure
- you are then able to generate a key code
- then go to your post and underneath add the code to activate the upload facility
- then when you want to upload stuff, you can use the DivShare section - this just replaces the Edublogs bit

This is a fairly straightforward process, the most difficult bit is remembering where your file is.

You can add all file types, for example
- all Microsoft office
- photos
- pdf
- video
- audio - voice, music
in fact, if you can save it to your pc, you can attach it.
There is an important consideration here. In order to open a file save from a particular programme, you need to remember that the person downloading it, probably a student, must also have that programme, or they wont be able to view it.
To overcome this, you can change the file to a pdf - which can be read by anyone who has Acrobat Reader - this is free so makes this a universal file type.
There are free file converters, the best one is Zamzar
How to do it
- Underneath the editing bit of your post, there is another section with File, Tile, Description
- click on browse button
- find the file you want and double click or click to select and then open
- It will allow up to 3Mb - so pictures may need to made smaller (tip on this available)
- this will enter the path of where your file is in the File box
- click on Upload and the file is now attached to your post
- click your mouse in your post to choose a place where the attachment will be
- select Send to editor
- then save or publish your post
- to check it’s there, double click the attachment
- It will now download
