I’m using this as a test to see if I can use Google docs to prepare a post and the using the ’share’ button, getting it published to my blog.

Why would this be useful - perhaps getting the students to post via Google docs could work.
This could be a great way to get your students to do a writeup for your class blog. Just have a class login for Google docs and have them all log in and create then save their posts in Google docs. Then, I think it would be advisable for you to publish them using the ’share’ menu, without lettinng the students in on this function. This way, you can do multiple and collaborative writeups - any other ideas out there?
Unable to get pictures in at the right size at the moment via Google docs, otherwise this seems to work well - I think this is a Safari-specific issue
Advantages
- easier to make multiple posts
- spellchecking built in
- can add in tables
- headers and footers
- strikeout, superscript and subscript
- collaborative aspect to posts
- ability to indent
- highlighting - this doesn’t seem to show up in Edublogs
- editing is much much quicker
- you can probably upload a .doc file to Google docs and then edit it quickly before posting
Disadvantage
- at the moment, no way to categorise or tag posts
If anyone would like an invite to help look into this and set up some instructions, please let me know

This is a test as a response to Alice Mercer’s comment on having an mp3 player in the post
The method is fairly simple, but doesn’t work - so my recommendation is to disable the divShare plugin if you want to do lots of podcasting
Update: Alice says she has a workaround for this - so will post asap
- know the location of your mp3 file
- go to divShare under you post when editing
- click on browse
- find the mp3 file
- upload
- you then have 2 option
- to put in a link
- to upload as an mp3 player
- however in brackets it says ” turn off visual rich editor”
- Be sure to turn off rich-text editing (or WYSIWYG, what you see is what you get).
- Then, all is revealed
- UnCheck under DASHBOARD | USERS | PROFILE at bottom of page is “Personal Options
- afterwards go back and tick the “Use the visual rich editor” when writing your posts
I did all this but got no player
cerebraloddjobs has also had some problems
I know some people have had great luck with mp3 files. Maybe they can add a topic to the forum under “share your stuff” that explains what works and what doesn’t and what’s still frustrating. - anyone out there got the workaround for this?

- Register (free) with www.quimble.com
- click on new
- Add in a question
- Put in the voting options
- click on add an option if you need more than one
- Click create poll
- Under the tools menu, click on add to my blog/web
- copy the code
- If you wish to change the size, you will need to take both parts of the code and edit the 200 and make it smaller or larger - this can be a bit of trial and error
- Begin writing a new post in Edublogs (you can add this to your sidebar - see adding widgets to sidebar under customising)
- type the any instructions you may wish to add
- then click on the code tab
- paste your code in (edit paste)
- save the post
- the poll will now be in your post, ready to use
Still working on this for the posts - but it seems to work for the sidebar
